According to LHSAA Executive Director Eddie Bonine, four schools in Louisiana have football players that have tested positive for COVID-19.
Bonine was not able to disclose the names of the schools or parishes but did say that each of the schools were in different parishes. He mentioned that the schools were in the Acadiana area, outside of East Baton Rouge, in North Louisiana, and Southwest Louisiana.
Bonine says he expects more cases because of the nature of the virus, but mentioned the small number of cases at the moment is encouraging. The schools affected as well as their respective parishes have shut down their football practices.
Bonine told The Advocate:
“The thing we’ve got to do now is be careful and not do anything in June or July that will jeopardize what we hope to do in the fall.”
