Major League Baseball has postponed 2 games because of a coronavirus outbreak amongst the Miami Marlins.
The Marlins’ home-opener against the Baltimore Orioles will be postponed as well as the Philadelphia Phillies‘ home game against the New York Yankees.
Seven more Marlins players and two coaches have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to at least 13 cases according to ESPN. The Marlins just completed a series in Philadephia, which is the reason behind postponing the Phillies home game against the Yankees Monday night.
“The members of the Marlins’ traveling party are self-quarantining in place while awaiting the outcome of those results,” MLB said in a statement. “Major League Baseball has been coordinating with the Major League Baseball Players Association; the Marlins; the Orioles; the Marlins’ weekend opponent, the Phillies; and Club medical staffs, and will continue to provide updates as appropriate.”
