A man was arrested in Riverside County after he allegedly threatened family members while armed with a chainsaw and a knife.

Deputies responded just before 11 a.m. on Jan. 7 to a home in the 400 block of Lookout Street in Lake Elsinore.

According to authorities, family members reported that the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Agustin Enrique Arana, had been threatening them while holding a knife and a chainsaw.

Officials said Arana left the property while still armed and ignored commands from deputies to surrender. He later returned to the home and barricaded himself inside.

Family members were able to safely leave the house as deputies continued negotiating with Arana.

Arana was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center.

Authorities have not released additional details, including a possible motive or the events that led up to the incident.
