Two California women have been charged with drug trafficking after being caught with kilos of cocaine at Chicago O’Hare International Airport.
The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) announced the bust Friday morning. Agents received a tip before Nancy Ramos, 20, of Huntington Park, California, arrived at O’Hare from Los Angeles on Jan. 5. A drug-sniffing dog gave a positive alert, and a search of her luggage revealed approximately 13 kilograms of cocaine.
DEA agents later located Vanessa Perez, 27, of Los Angeles at the airport. When she consented to have her checked luggage searched, agents found an additional nine kilograms of cocaine.
Both Ramos and Perez are charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and controlled substance trafficking.
