A Southern California softball coach was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an underage girl.
Ontario police identified the suspect as Michael Patrick Fitzgerald, 64, of Ontario.
Authorities began investigating on Jan. 7 after receiving a report of sexual abuse involving a family member. The 14-year-old victim reported the incident to police.
Following the investigation, Fitzgerald was taken into custody.
Fitzgerald coaches for the Southern California Explosion youth softball club and has led various teams throughout Orange and San Bernardino counties in recent years.
The victim was a member of his sports team, and investigators believe there may be additional victims.
Fitzgerald was charged with several felony counts involving lewd and lascivious acts with a minor. He was booked at the West Valley Detention Center and is being held on $1 million bail.
