Man Sentenced to 35 Years to Life for Kidnapping and Rape in Orange

A 41-year-old man, Frank Medina, was sentenced Friday to 35 years to life in prison for kidnapping and raping his on-again, off-again girlfriend in a parking lot in Orange.

Medina was convicted Sept. 11, 2025, of rape, kidnapping, corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant, and attempted forcible rape, all felonies. A sentencing enhancement for great bodily injury in a domestic violence incident was also found true. A separate felony for rape of an unconscious person was dismissed before deliberations.

According to prosecutors, the assault occurred Nov. 28, 2021, after Medina picked up the victim earlier in the evening to visit bars in Anaheim and Santa Ana. During the night, Medina became aggravated and, as the victim tried to leave, he pushed her into his car and drove off.

Prosecutors detailed a 10-minute attack during the car ride, where Medina slammed doors on her, punched her repeatedly, dragged her out of the car, and assaulted her sexually. The victim suffered concussion, asphyxiation, and neck injuries, requiring three days of hospitalization.

The victim told police Medina had previously attacked her multiple times, with restraining orders in place, and forced her into sexual acts on at least 10 prior occasions. On Nov. 14, 2021, Medina allegedly ran her over with her own car, injuring her knee, before forcing her to have sex again.

Prosecutors described the crimes as part of a long history of domestic abuse, emphasizing the severity and brutality of Medina’s actions.

Medina will serve 35 years to life, reflecting the gravity of the kidnapping, sexual assault, and repeated domestic violence.
