LOS ANGELES — Striking surveillance footage captures the moment a mother in Los Angeles, California, rammed her Mercedes-Benz into the getaway car of an attempted burglary crew.
The attempted break-in occurred Saturday afternoon at a residence.
The mother, who asked not to be identified, said she had stepped out to grab coffee, leaving her three young children and their grandmother at home.
She had only driven a short distance when the grandmother called in a panic, screaming that burglars were on the property. The commotion and screams from inside the home frightened the suspects and caused them to flee.
At the same time, the mother made a sudden U-turn in her Mercedes and rushed back, arriving just in time to slam into the suspects’ parked sedan before they could get inside.
Video footage shows the Mercedes striking the side of the sedan and jumping the curb. Three suspects can be seen fleeing the area after the collision.
Tire marks at the scene reveal how the luxury SUV veered across the street before crashing into a neighbor’s wall.
Los Angeles police searched the suspects’ vehicle and recovered a wallet containing a driver’s license, a red crowbar, and a walkie-talkie tuned to the LAPD’s radio scanner.
As of late Monday, no arrests have been made.
