Freeway Crash Involving Semi-Truck in L.A. Kills One, CHP Says

A crash on the 210 Freeway involving a semi-truck and another vehicle left at least one person dead early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CHP reported the first calls came in around 5 a.m., indicating the collision occurred on the eastbound lanes near Polk Street in the San Fernando Valley neighborhood of Sylmar.

First responders arrived within minutes and closed all eastbound lanes for at least three hours. A SigAlert was issued, and traffic was diverted off the freeway onto Roxford Avenue.

The Los Angeles Fire Department also responded and confirmed one person died at the scene. Fire crews helped CHP officers with the extrication of the body, LAFD said in an emergency alert.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and the victim has not yet been identified.

Authorities announced shortly before 10 a.m. that all eastbound lanes of the 210 at Polk Street had reopened.
