A young woman died at a hospital after emergency crews responded to her location along Sierra Highway in Palmdale. A sheriff’s department official said Wednesday the incident appeared to involve a drug overdose.
A 911 caller reported the woman was found down along Sierra Highway north of Avenue Q, according to a lieutenant at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Palmdale Station. The woman, believed to be in her 20s, still had vital signs when responders located her around 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel transported her to Palmdale Regional Medical Center, which later informed the sheriff’s department that she had died.
Although authorities believe the woman died from a drug overdose, sheriff’s homicide detectives are continuing the investigation. The Los Angeles County medical examiner will determine the official cause of death, the lieutenant said.
