Sacramento Firefighters Find Body After Fire in Building Near Oak Park Home

An investigation is underway in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood after firefighters discovered a body following an early Monday morning fire.

The Sacramento Fire Department said crews responded to a fire near 43rd Street and 4th Avenue around 3 a.m. and found flames coming from a building adjacent to a home.

Firefighters said downed power lines initially made the response more difficult. SMUD shut off power in the area, allowing crews to safely battle the fire.

After extinguishing the flames, firefighters discovered a body inside the building.

Authorities have not released details about the identity of the deceased.

The cause of the fire remains unknown and is under investigation.
