A 17-year-old male in San Bernardino County has been arrested for the attempted murder of a woman and a 16-year-old boy late last year, officials said.
The incident occurred on Dec. 3, just after 1 p.m., in a dirt field on the 21000 block of Laguna Road in Apple Valley, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
The victims, identified only as a 19-year-old female and a 16-year-old male, both suffered gunshot wounds. They made their way to a nearby AMPM convenience store and gas station, where deputies met them.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital and were expected to survive, sheriff’s officials said.
Authorities closed part of Laguna Road while searching the area for evidence and looking for the suspect.
It is unclear when investigators identified the alleged juvenile gunman, but he was detained on Jan. 14 and booked into the High Desert Juvenile Detention Facility.
No information has been released regarding a possible motive or whether the gunman knew the victims. The investigation remains active.
