Keith Guidry, with the Lafayette Public Library, joined us on the “Boot Scootin Morning Show” on Thursday morning. Keith expanded on how the library is adapting services going through Phase One of reopening. Keith was able to tell us that the Lafayette Public Library branches will reopen on Monday at noon. All units except for Butler will reopen, while Chenier will have reduced hours. Services will still be abbreviated in some parts and restricted in others, but the library will be open.
Keith also let us know about an exciting new program that the outreach department has put together for those in the community that cannot make it to the library. “Booking It To You” is a new contactless delivery option for library patrons unable to get to the library due to health concerns, caring for out-of-school children, or lack of transportation.
We also talked about storytime and how even digitally, it has helped some kids in Acadiana cope with the stay at home order.
Other Information that Keith also passed along:
Drive-thru window service has resumed at the regional libraries (North, South, East, and West) and the Main Library with regular hours. People can pick up a hold in they’ve been notified (by email, text, phone, or app) that their item is ready.
– Milton Branch holds can be picked up at South Regional’s drive-thru in Lafayette.
– Duson Branch items will be picked up at West Regional’s drive-thru in Scott.
– Chenier Branch holds can be picked up at the Main Library drive-thru downtown.
All book drops are open. Returns are quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in and put back on the shelves. (We’re excited to be back serving our patrons, but everyone’s health and safety is a priority for us.)
