SCRANTON, Pa. WHTM — Governor Josh Shapiro hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Scranton, where they signed a pact between Pennsylvania and the Ukrainian province of Zaporizhzhia.
The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration and support rebuilding efforts in Ukraine post-war, while also creating opportunities for Pennsylvania businesses through economic development.
During his visit, Zelenskyy toured an ammunition plant in Scranton that produces howitzer rounds for Ukraine’s defense against Russian aggression.
Shapiro emphasized Pennsylvania’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s fight for freedom and highlighted the historical significance of the state as a birthplace of American liberty.
DCED Secretary Rick Siger noted that the partnership will foster economic revitalization in Ukraine and create jobs in Pennsylvania.
