High-Speed Crackdown: Connecticut Police Battle Drivers Reaching Dangerous Speeds

Connecticut State Police have been intensifying their efforts to crack down on drivers reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph. According to Trooper First Class Curt Booker, who is part of the aggressive driving unit, the number of drivers they pull over for speeds above 90, 100, and even 110 mph remains alarmingly high. Booker noted that while high-powered cars like Hellcats are frequently involved, all types of vehicles are seen driving at these dangerous speeds.

Booker highlighted the significant risks involved, explaining that incidents such as tire blowouts or losing control of a vehicle can become catastrophic at such high speeds. He and his partner, Trooper Mike Buck, frequently patrol areas like Interstate 91, which is noted as a hotspot for reckless driving in the state. State police emphasize that these speeding drivers not only endanger themselves but also other highway users. With vehicles becoming faster and more drivers taking risks, state troopers continue to address this growing safety concern.
