A homeowner in Valley Village shot and injured one of two people who tried to break into his house, according to police.
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on Monday on Addison Street. Police believe the homeowner shot a 25-year-old man attempting to enter the home, though it’s unclear if he was trying to burglarize it or had another motive.
The injured man, who was conscious and breathing, was taken to a nearby hospital after being shot twice.
Police established a perimeter to search for the second suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing a blue hoodie and a face mask. K9 units were deployed to assist in the search.
The homeowner sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for evaluation. He was seen being loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher.
The shooting occurred near Colfax Charter Elementary, which briefly went into lockdown as a precaution. However, the incident was unrelated to the school, according to a spokesperson for the school police.
