Living off-grid, whether permanently or temporarily, can be really rewarding.
Generating your own energy gives you a sense of pride in being self-sufficient, and being able to set up camp anywhere and still live or vacation comfortably is a huge bonus.
A Reddit user shared their off-grid setup in Pennsylvania with the r/OffGrid community. They described their wilderness retreat, mentioning that they were hauling water for their needs and using solar lights and a charger ecoflow.
They had a large carport tent set up on a raised platform made of logs and pallets and planned to install a compost toilet, although they were using a bucket method for now.
They also had a small charcoal stove and a fire pit but were still figuring out how to handle heating.
While they were happy with their setup, they asked for suggestions, and fellow off-grid enthusiasts shared tips and expressed their admiration for the project.
