The occupant of a black BMW SUV lost their life in the early hours of Saturday morning during a rollover accident on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista.
At 3:02 a.m., a concerned observer alerted the California Highway Patrol, detailing the erratic behavior of a high-speed black SUV on the northbound lanes near E Street. The vehicle veered out of control, ultimately colliding with the right shoulder and subsequently rolling over multiple times.
Additional eyewitnesses reported the involvement of multiple vehicles in the incident. Upon arrival, a paramedic declared at least one fatality at the scene, prompting the summoning of the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to the CHP.
The collision resulted in the toppling of a pole carrying an electrical box, causing exposed wires, as noted by the CHP.
