A man wanted for murder in Iowa was shot and killed by Anaheim police on Friday afternoon.
The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. in an industrial area near North State College Boulevard and the 91 Freeway, south of Cal State Fullerton.
Victor Delgadillo, 18, was wanted for a June 1 murder in Marshalltown, Iowa, which is about 50 miles northeast of Des Moines. He had been evading capture for over two months.
The Anaheim Police Department reported that officers were assisting a U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, which included local, state, and federal agencies, when the shooting occurred. The exact reason for the shooting is not yet clear, but the police said that task force members and Anaheim officers fired their weapons when they contacted Delgadillo.
Delgadillo was taken to a nearby hospital but died from his injuries. A bystander was also hit by a bullet but was not seriously hurt.
Delgadillo was accused of killing Ramon Alexis Feliciano Nieves, 41, at a bar in Marshalltown, according to the criminal complaint.
The shooting is under investigation.
