John Deaton, a former U.S. Marine and cryptocurrency attorney, is challenging Senator Elizabeth Warren for her Massachusetts Senate seat in the upcoming election.
In a recent appearance on the Codcast, Deaton stated that he will cast a write-in vote for president, with former Governor Charlie Baker being the first name that came to mind.
Deaton praised Baker’s ability to work across the aisle and promote unity, qualities he values in leadership.
He emphasized his frustration with the current political climate, citing division and finger-pointing as major concerns.
Though he won the Republican primary, Deaton distances himself from extreme partisan positions, and he indicated that he would caucus with Democrats to prevent a nation-wide abortion ban.
Deaton’s platform highlights fiscal conservatism with moderate to liberal social policies.
He has also criticized Warren as being an extremist, pointing to issues like the national debt, immigration, housing, inflation, and foreign policy as key concerns in his campaign.
