Joseph Lancia, 33, formerly the head of the Rhode Island Hells Angels, is set to be released from prison after agreeing to new parole conditions.
He was taken back into custody for attending the wake of Eddie Lato, a prominent figure in the New England crime family, which violated his parole terms prohibiting contact with Hells Angels members and convicted felons.
During a recent hearing, two violations against Lancia were dropped, but he admitted to one.
Upon his release, he will wear a GPS monitoring bracelet until July 2025 and is prohibited from wearing Hells Angels insignia or associating with any members of the club or affiliated groups, including the Red Devils. Lancia had previously sought permission from his parole officer to attend the wake but failed to inform the board of Lato’s criminal background.
Lancia had been sentenced to five years in prison in 2022 for shooting at a rival and for a separate incident involving a bouncer at a strip club.
Eddie Lato, who passed away after battling cancer at the age of 77, was a long-standing member of the New England crime family.
