North Carolina’s Governor-elect Josh Stein D said Vice President Kamala Harris lost her presidential race against President-elect Donald Trump because she ran out of time and had a “short, abbreviated campaign.
Stein, speaking on ABC News’s This Week, acknowledged that Harris worked hard but mentioned the tough national mood, with Trump winning all the swing states.
Stein pointed out that Harris had a strong campaign in North Carolina but ultimately ran out of time. In the state, Trump won by about 3 points, keeping North Carolina red. He had also won the state in 2020 and 2016, despite not winning the presidency in 2020.
However, Stein emphasized that North Carolina had a bright spot for Democrats, as he won the gubernatorial race against Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson R by a strong margin.
He also pointed out that Democrats won several important positions in the state, including secretary of state, attorney general, and lieutenant governor.
Stein, who will become North Carolina’s first Jewish governor, will succeed Gov. Roy Cooper D, who is term-limited.
