Kentucky Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Federal Prison for Meth Trafficking

HARLAN, Ky. FOX 56 — A collaborative investigation by the Kentucky State Police KSP and the Drug Enforcement Agency DEA has culminated in a 15-year federal prison sentence for Steven Wayne Williams, 41, of Lynch, Kentucky, on charges of drug trafficking.

According to a news release, Williams played a key role in a criminal conspiracy to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine, with multiple kilograms transported from Georgia to Harlan County.

Law enforcement described Williams as the point man, coordinating shipments by arranging for co-conspirator Lawrence Lucas to travel to Georgia and return with substantial quantities of the drug for regional distribution.

Lucas received an 80-month federal prison sentence for his involvement.

Williams will be required to serve at least 85% of his sentence.

“This investigation represents a significant victory in our fight against illegal drugs, said KSP Sergeant Jeremy Lee.

This multi-agency effort disrupted a dangerous supply chain, removed harmful substances from our streets, and sent a clear message to those profiting from illicit activities: we will hold you accountable.
