Mark Coester Challenges Becca Balint in Vermont’s Congressional Race: What You Need to Know

BURLINGTON, Vt. WCAX – Becca Balint, Vermont’s first woman elected to Congress, is seeking re-election after her first term. She faces Republican Mark Coester, a political newcomer, in next month’s election.

Balint, who previously represented Brattleboro and Windham County, highlights her achievements, including securing $11 million in community project funding for housing, senior services, and childcare. She aims to continue advocating for reproductive rights, addressing mental health and opioid crises, and improving housing. Balint emphasizes her willingness to work across party lines, citing her experience in the state legislature.

Mark Coester, a logger and first-time candidate, ran unopposed in the Republican primary. He wants to bring his work ethic to Washington and believes in a government “by the people, of the people.” His campaign focuses on practical solutions, traditional values, economic improvement, border security, truth, transparency, and accountability.

Coester emphasizes teamwork and collaboration if elected, stating, No one person has all the answers.
