Trooper Enrique Delgado-Garcia, a 25-year-old Massachusetts State Police recruit, was laid to rest Saturday following his funeral at Mercandante Funeral Home and Chapel in Worcester.
Delgado-Garcia died earlier this month after sustaining injuries during a boxing training exercise, with the circumstances surrounding his death currently under investigation.
Hundreds attended the service, which included a State Police flyover, prayers, and a flag presentation.
Family and friends remembered him for his warmth and dedication to becoming a state trooper, a dream he pursued after earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Westfield State University and working as a victim’s advocate.
Mourners expressed their grief over the loss, emphasizing the impact of his passing on the community.
Delgado-Garcia was buried at Notre Dame Cemetery, with his family thanking the community for their support during this difficult time.
