Michigan vs. Ohio State: Post-Game Fight Breaks Out After Flag Planting at Ohio Stadium

After Michigan’s 13-10 win over Ohio State on Saturday, a big fight broke out on the field. The incident happened after Michigan players planted their flag at midfield at Ohio State’s stadium, the Horseshoe. Ohio State players didn’t like this and rushed to the field, leading to a chaotic brawl.

There was pushing, shoving, and even some swinging and kicking. During the fight, police sprayed mace to break up the scene, affecting both players and media members.

Ohio State’s police, along with other law enforcement agencies, worked to separate the players. They said in a social media post that both Ohio and Michigan police used pepper spray to control the situation. The Ohio State Police Department will continue investigating the incident.

Ohio State’s coach, Ryan Day, didn’t excuse the actions but suggested Michigan started it by planting the flag. He acknowledged the loss but said his players were upset about the flag being put on their field. Michigan had also planted a flag at Ohio State’s field in 2022, as did Oklahoma in 2017.

Michigan’s coach, Sherrone Moore, described the incident as a result of high emotions. He said both sides were heated, but it shouldn’t have happened. He emphasized that rivalry games, especially this one, are full of emotions, but everyone needs to handle it better.

The situation escalated when some Ohio State players tried to take the flag away from Michigan. Jason Avant, a Michigan radio sideline reporter, got involved and grabbed the flag, taking it with him to the Michigan locker room.

Despite the fight, Michigan ended the season strong, even though this wasn’t the first postgame altercation. Kalel Mullings, who had a standout performance in the game, said that while he dreamed of the win, the postgame fight was unfortunate.

He added that it was bad for the sport and that people need to learn how to lose without fighting.
