For over a year, Middletown residents have been waiting for the new Target store. Target first announced plans to open a location on Middletown Warwick Road in a new shopping center on the north side of Middletown. By early 2023, Target’s website listed this store as coming soon.
The wait is almost over. Target representatives have now confirmed that the Middletown store is set to open on October 13. The new store, located at 361 Middletown Warwick Road, will cover about 148,000 square feet.
Target spokesperson Loni Monroe expressed excitement about bringing an easy, affordable, and convenient shopping experience” to Middletown. However, the opening date might change due to construction delays or other factors. The store is currently hiring for various positions.
The new Target will anchor the Northside Shopping Center, developed by Lee and Louis Ramunno. Plans for the shopping center also include a Sprouts grocery store, and advertising materials mention a Hobby Lobby and PetSmart.
If it opens as planned, this Target will be the fifth in Delaware, joining existing locations at Brandywine Town Center, Christiana Mall, Prices Corner, and Route 13 in Dover. The Prices Corner Target replaced Sears in April 2021, and its timeline matches closely with the Middletown Target’s.
