A charter school with campuses in Minneapolis and St. Paul lost $1.3 million in state funding after an investigation by the Minnesota Department of Education.
The investigation found that the school had inflated its attendance numbers.
The Minnesota Supreme Court recently confirmed the penalty, which came after the school appealed the decision.
Although Education Department officials did not release details about the case, the Supreme Court filing reveals that in 2021, the investigation discovered that the school had received funds for 137 students who were not actually enrolled.
