Nebraska Nurse Practitioner Andrea Meisinger’s Licenses Revoked After Prescribing Medications Illegally

A Nebraska nurse practitioner, Andrea Meisinger, had her licenses revoked on Wednesday after it was revealed that she prescribed medicine to patients while her license was suspended.

She also authorized prescriptions for patients in states where she did not have the required licenses.

Dr. Timothy Tesmer, the state’s chief medical officer, imposed a $16,000 civil penalty on Meisinger.

Meisinger runs a business called AR Virtual Health, which promotes weight loss medications like tirzepatide and semaglutide.

On November 5, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office filed a petition to take disciplinary action against her, accusing Meisinger of immoral conduct, fraud, and unprofessional behavior. The charges include:

  • Holding virtual appointments with a Nebraska patient while her license was suspended.
  • Prescribing medication in states where she was not licensed.
  • Sending medications to her own address or to a friend or co-worker.
  • Authorizing prescriptions for Nebraska patients while her license was suspended.

Previously, on May 16, the Attorney General’s Office filed another petition, accusing Meisinger of attempting to sell tirzepatide without establishing a proper patient/provider relationship.

As a result, Tesmer had ordered her to pay a $3,000 civil penalty, placed her on probation for a year, and suspended her licenses. She was also banned from practicing nursing.
