Northern New Mexico Faces 55 MPH Winds Ahead of Cooler Thanksgiving Weather

Northern New Mexico is experiencing strong winds today, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph along the east slopes of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and areas south to Vaughn.

These gusty winds are being driven by a weather disturbance crossing the Rockies, alongside warmer-than-usual temperatures.

A cooler front is expected to move in by Monday, bringing a drop in temperatures, especially in the northern and eastern regions, and lighter winds.

From Tuesday to early Thanksgiving morning, rain and snow showers will affect the northern mountains, with several inches of snow possible in the Tusas Mountains and light snowfall in the Raton Pass area.

Thanksgiving Day will be colder but sunny, followed by milder and mostly cloudy conditions for the rest of the holiday weekend. It’s important to stay prepared for these changing weather conditions this week.
