Providence Man Jahcolin Rodrigues Sentenced to Life for Pawtucket Drive-By Murder

A Providence man, Jahcolin Rodrigues, 23, was sentenced to life in prison for a drive-by shooting that killed Leonardo Tavares in Pawtucket in 2021.

Rodrigues received an additional 20 years after pleading guilty to first-degree murder and firing a gun from a vehicle. The shooting happened on May 15, 2021, when Rodrigues saw Tavares while driving. He circled back and shot into Tavares’ car, killing him.

Witnesses and video footage helped police identify Rodrigues. The crime was linked to a feud involving the Bucket West street gang, which Rodrigues believed Tavares was part of.
