Rhode Island Changes Legal Team in Washington Bridge Lawsuit: What to Know

The State of Rhode Island has announced a change in its legal team for the lawsuit involving companies linked to the design, construction, and inspection of the Washington Bridge.

Attorney Max Wistow, initially retained for the case, has withdrawn due to professional reasons, according to Attorney General Peter F. Neronha’s office.

In Wistow’s place, the law firm Cohen Milstein Sellers and Toll will join the case, working alongside Savage Law Partners.

Tim Rondeau, Director of Communications, highlighted Cohen Milstein’s strong track record in handling complex cases, citing their involvement in the Flint, Michigan water contamination litigation as an example of their expertise.

Rhode Island’s lawsuit involves 13 companies connected to the Washington Bridge, which has faced structural issues that led to the westbound side’s closure on December 11, 2023.
