Rhode Island’s T.F. Green International Airport is set for a significant renovation, thanks to $10 million in federal funding secured by U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse, alongside Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo.
The funding, part of the Federal Aviation Administration’s FAA Airport Terminals Program, will help modernize the 30-year-old terminal, enhancing passenger comfort and operational efficiency.
Improvements will include expanding seating areas, upgrading interior spaces, and enhancing energy efficiency.
The renovations will also focus on ADA accessibility and integrating new technologies to accommodate future passenger growth. With new agreements bringing additional domestic and international routes, the airport aims to boost local tourism and business, creating hundreds of jobs in the process.
Senator Reed emphasized that this investment will ensure the airport remains a welcoming and efficient hub, supporting Rhode Island’s economy and preparing for future growth.
The upgrades are expected to solidify T.F. Green’s status as a top regional airport while making it more sustainable.
The airport’s role as a gateway to the state’s tourism and business sectors makes these improvements a critical step forward in enhancing travel experiences and handling increased passenger traffic.
