Senator Eric Schmitt has decided not to pursue the role of Attorney General in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
Schmitt, a Republican, announced on social media that he has requested to be removed from consideration for the position.
He emphasized his commitment to serving the people of Missouri as a U.S. Senator, expressing his dedication to the America First agenda.
Schmitt highlighted key issues such as border security, energy dominance, and supporting working-class Americans as priorities he plans to champion in the Senate.
His decision comes amid a series of nominations made by Trump for other leadership roles, including former Congressman Lee Zeldin for the Environmental Protection Agency and Rep. Elise Stefanik as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
