A 15-year-old from Tennessee was arrested on Saturday morning after leading state and local police on a chase through five counties.
The incident began at around 7:20 a.m. when an officer from the Centre Police Department in Cherokee County tried to stop a 2023 Nissan Armada. The driver refused to stop, and the pursuit started, involving Alabama Law Enforcement Agency ALEA troopers.
The chase went south on U.S. 411 and continued onto Interstate 59. During the pursuit, the Armada hit two civilian vehicles in Jefferson County. The chase ended when the vehicle ran off the road and crashed into a fence and building near mile marker 77 in Tuscaloosa County.
The driver fled on foot but was quickly caught by an ALEA trooper without further incident. Multiple agencies assisted in the chase, which covered five counties. No injuries or damage to ALEA vehicles were reported.
The teen from New Market, Tennessee, was arrested and taken to the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center. He was charged with felony eluding.
