BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. — A Texas man named Steven Michael Pena, 50, pleaded guilty in Boone County on Friday to transporting almost six pounds of methamphetamine into West Virginia, according to prosecutors.
Pena, who is from Friendswood, Texas, was arrested after authorities discovered a plan between him and Aubrey Jack Turley, II, from Uneeda, West Virginia, to bring drugs into the state, as reported by the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
On January 15, 2022, Pena drove the drugs from Texas to Turley’s home in Boone County. Later, the state police’s Special Response Team searched Turley’s home.
During the search, officers found a large amount of drugs in Pena’s vehicle and seized the drugs along with $9,000 in cash.
Turley has been convicted and could face up to 15 years in prison, while Pena could face up to 30 years.
Pena is currently being held at South Central Regional Jail and is awaiting his sentencing on October 29 at 2:30 p.m. in Boone County.
