In a significant federal case in Boston, two members of a nationwide drug trafficking ring were sentenced for their roles in distributing methamphetamine and laundering drug money. The investigation, which uncovered over 160 pounds of pure methamphetamine and a cache of firearms, also dismantled an illegal marijuana grow operation.
Edison Klotz, 48, of Stoughton, Massachusetts, was sentenced to 46 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release. Klotz pled guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess methamphetamine, as well as distribution charges. In one instance, Klotz distributed over 108 grams of meth to a cooperating witness in November 2020.
Brian Keleman, 55, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, received a 60-month prison sentence, followed by three years of supervised release. Keleman pled guilty to charges including conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and money laundering. He was involved in distributing meth for co-defendant Reshat Alkayisi, a major supplier in New England, and helped manage Alkayisi’s illegal marijuana grow and launder drug proceeds.
Both men were sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton. This case is part of a broader Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces OCDETF operation targeting high-level criminal organizations. Multiple law enforcement agencies from several states were involved in the investigation.
