A tragic accident in Utah led to the deaths of Richard Hendrickson, CEO of Lifetime Products, and his 16-year-old daughter, Sally Hendrickson.
Authorities accuse a tow-truck driver, Michael John Love, of failing to secure a bulldozer he was transporting on his flatbed trailer, causing the equipment to break free and crush the Hendricksons’ vehicle on July 6.
The crash occurred on State Route 39 in Ogden Canyon. According to the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP), as Love’s truck navigated a curve, the bulldozer slid off the trailer and struck the Hendricksons’ GMC pickup, resulting in their immediate deaths. Two other passengers in the vehicle were injured but survived.
After initially claiming that the equipment was properly secured with multiple restraints, Love’s account was contradicted by gas station surveillance footage, which revealed only minimal securing points on the bulldozer.
Investigators allege that Love attempted to alter evidence at the scene by moving chains to make it appear that the bulldozer had been properly restrained.
Love now faces multiple felony charges, including second-degree manslaughter, aggravated assault, and obstruction of justice. He remains in custody without bail due to additional pending felony charges.
Lifetime Products issued a statement mourning the loss of Hendrickson and his daughter, remembering Richard as an inspiring leader and Sally as a kind and bright presence.
