Vermont Women’s Rally Unites Voices for Women’s Rights on Statehouse Lawn

The Vermont Women’s Rally held in Montpelier over the weekend coincided with the National Women’s March in Washington, D.C., emphasizing the state’s long-standing commitment to women’s rights.

The event took place on the Statehouse lawn, featuring notable speakers including former Governor Madeleine Kunin, who at 91 is the only woman to have held that position in Vermont.

Kunin urged attendees to recognize the significance of women’s votes in the upcoming presidential election, declaring, This is a tight election.

Which means it could go either way and it’s up to us to declare victory. Because it will be our victory and it will be glorious.

The rally also included remarks from Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark, U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders, and U.S. Senator Peter Welch, all of whom reinforced the importance of women’s participation in shaping political outcomes and ensuring the advancement of rights.
