West Valley City Tragedy: Five Dead in Family Home, Teenager Found Shot

Five members of a Utah family were found dead in their West Valley City home on Tuesday, according to the police. A 17-year-old was found alive and taken to a hospital.

The victims are believed to be family members: a 42-year-old man, a 38-year-old woman, an 11-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old girl.

A family member called the police on Monday because they couldn’t reach the woman who lived in the home. When police arrived, they couldn’t make contact with anyone inside and didn’t find any signs of an emergency. They asked the family member to keep trying to reach the woman.

On Tuesday, after the woman missed work, the family member returned to the home, entered the garage, and found the 17-year-old injured with a gunshot wound. Police then obtained a search warrant for the home and began their investigation.

They’ve also spoken to neighbors and collected any available video footage.

Police believe this incident was contained to the house, and there are no active suspects.
