West Virginia Approves $135M for Major Highway and Bridge Construction Projects

West Virginia has approved two major construction projects aimed at enhancing the state’s transportation infrastructure and promoting regional economic growth.

The first project, a $58 million contract, will build a 2.5-mile segment of the King Coal Highway, linking the Mercer County Airport to Littlesburg.

This four-lane highway, stretching nearly 100 miles through counties like McDowell, Mercer, and Mingo, is part of ongoing efforts to improve connectivity in the area.

The second project allocates more than $77 million to complete the Roaring Run Bridge along Corridor H, a key route spanning from Weston, WV, to Interstate 81 in Virginia.

This addition will finalize a section between Kerens and Parsons, facilitating faster travel and supporting economic expansion in the remote counties of Grant, Hardy, and Tucker.
